SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
SharpLink Gaming has appointed Joseph Chalom, a former digital assets executive at BlackRock, as its co-CEO. Chalom, who played a pivotal role in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, expressed his excitement about joining SharpLink, emphasizing his belief that Ethereum will underpin global finance. This move comes after two decades at BlackRock, where Chalom led digital asset strategies. With his addition, Rob Phythian, the current CEO, will transition to the role of president. SharpLink, which holds over 360,000 ETH valued at more than $1.3 billion, aims to enhance shareholder value by utilizing Ethereum as a productive asset through strategies like staking. The firm plans to raise up to $6 billion via a stock sale for more ETH purchases. Following the announcement, shares of SharpLink Gaming fell more than 6% on the day, continuing a downward trend.
