Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom was instrumental in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and was a managing director overseeing strategic partnerships related to digital assets. He expressed enthusiasm for SharpLink’s belief in Ethereum becoming the foundation of global finance. At SharpLink, he will work alongside current CEO Rob Phythian, who will transition to president. SharpLink is focused on utilizing Ethereum as a productive asset through various yield strategies and holds over 360,000 ETH worth more than $1.3 billion, recently acquiring almost 80,000 ETH. The firm has plans to raise up to $6 billion via a stock sale to further bolster its Ethereum holdings. BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF, which recently saw significant growth, reflects rising investor interest in Ethereum, marking a broader trend of institutional adoption in the crypto market.
