SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a pivotal role in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and has now transitioned to lead SharpLink, an Ethereum treasury company. In his statement, he emphasized his belief in the potential of Ethereum as a foundational asset for global finance. SharpLink’s current CEO, Rob Phythian, will shift to the role of president. SharpLink holds over 360,000 ETH valued at over $1.3 billion and recently acquired nearly 80,000 ETH to strengthen its treasury. The company plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale, set to further its ETH acquisitions. This change at SharpLink is seen as a major boost for the firm’s strategy aimed at institutional adoption of Ethereum, with Chalom’s experience expected to contribute significantly to the company’s future growth. Meanwhile, SharpLink’s stock has experienced a decline, dropping over 6% in recent trading.
