SharpLink buys 10,000 ETH from Ethereum Foundation as Ether reclaims $3K
The Ethereum Foundation sold 10,000 ETH to SharpLink Gaming in an over-the-counter deal just before Ether briefly surpassed $3,000. The sale was finalized at an average price of $2,572.37 per Ether, amounting to over $25 million for the transaction, which closed on Thursday. Shortly after the sale, Ether's price surged, reaching a high of $3,028. SharpLink Gaming has expressed its intent to adopt an Ethereum-based treasury strategy, emphasizing the importance of Ether treasuries for the development of the Ethereum ecosystem. The recent uptick in Ether's price also aligns with increased investor interest driven by cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which saw significant inflows. The company’s chairman highlighted that insufficient usage of Ether in circulation has spurred their involvement with SharpLink Gaming, aiming to enhance supply-demand dynamics as more applications are built on the Ethereum network.
