Sergey Nazarov compares Chainlink’s CRE to Ethereum’s early breakthrough
Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov believes the recently launched Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) could have a transformative impact on the blockchain industry, akin to the effect of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). In a recent YouTube presentation, Nazarov emphasized that the CRE simplifies the complex ecosystem of smart contract development, reducing the time necessary to build applications from months to days. The CRE, introduced at the end of October 2024, allows developers to deploy code directly on the Chainlink Platform without the need for additional Chainlink-specific code. It also integrates traditional financial systems with blockchain protocols and smart contracts, functioning similarly to an operating system for the Chainlink network. The environment supports multiple programming languages and orchestrates actions through Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network (DON), ensuring cryptographic consensus across different chains. Nazarov's comments come as partnerships evolve between Chainlink and major financial institutions, highlighting the growing intersection of traditional finance and blockchain technology.
