Semler Scientific Plans To Hold 105,000 Bitcoin By 2027
Semler Scientific plans to significantly increase its Bitcoin holdings from 3,800 BTC to 105,000 BTC by 2027. The health tech company aims to achieve increments of 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, followed by reaching 42,000 BTC in 2026. To finance these acquisitions, Semler will use a mix of equity, debt financing, and operational cash flow. Recently, the company appointed Joe Burnett as its director of Bitcoin strategy, emphasizing the growing trend of companies integrating Bitcoin into their treasury operations. Despite facing challenges, including a nearly 41% decline in share value this year, Semler reported a substantial unrealized gain of $177 million on its Bitcoin investments, reflecting a 287% return. The company's ambition to hold 0.5% of Bitcoin's maximum supply underscores the increasing prevalence of corporate investments in the cryptocurrency.
