SEC Punts on BlackRock Ethereum ETF Staking, Franklin XRP and Solana Fund Decisions
The SEC has delayed its decisions regarding the inclusion of staking for BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum ETF, as well as Franklin Templeton’s proposals for funds tracking XRP and Solana. The deadline for the staking rule change request by Nasdaq for the iShares Ethereum Trust has been postponed to October 30, while the decision on Franklin Templeton’s proposals has been pushed to November 14. This postponement is part of a broader trend of recent delays by the SEC concerning various altcoin fund proposals. In similar recent filings, the SEC has also delayed decisions on rule changes that would enable the listing of different spot altcoin funds. Industry experts suggest that the SEC’s approach indicates a strategy to potentially align approvals for proposed altcoin ETFs and Ethereum staking after already approving some requests from Cboe and NYSE. These delays reflect ongoing complexities and regulatory reviews within the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
