SEC delays BlackRock, Franklin Templeton crypto ETF decisions
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed decisions on several crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF) proposals, including those from BlackRock and Franklin Templeton. New deadlines have been set for November 13 for Franklin's Ethereum amendment and November 14 for its other proposals. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust staking proposal is now slated for an October 30 review. The SEC has not indicated its stance on these applications, merely stating that more time is required. The commission has extended deadlines previously, reflecting a change in the regulatory approach toward digital assets since the Trump administration. Recent initiatives have aimed to modernize securities rules and integrate digital assets into a streamlined framework. Despite a push for pro-crypto policies, the SEC has continued to delay ETF applications, with various proposals currently pending review. Recent extensions also include the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF and Grayscale Hedera ETF, now due for review by November 12. As of late August, the SEC had numerous crypto ETF applications under consideration.
