Saylor signals third consecutive Strategy Bitcoin buy in August
Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, announced an upcoming Bitcoin purchase that would be the company's third acquisition of BTC in August. Despite a decline in share prices since November 2024, Strategy has been actively accumulating Bitcoin for its corporate treasury. The latest acquisition took place on August 18, when Strategy bought 430 BTC for $51.4 million, raising its total holdings to 629,376 BTC, valued at over $72 billion. Notably, Strategy's acquisitions this month have been modest compared to its usual transactions. The company has only purchased 585 BTC so far this month across two transactions. Jajodia, Strategy's corporate treasurer, indicated the firm acquires BTC through private agreements to avoid affecting market prices significantly. While the company continues to advocate Bitcoin, its share prices have struggled, hitting lows not seen since April before recovering slightly. There are varying factors impacting Bitcoin's price, with Saylor emphasizing Strategy's commitment to Bitcoin.
