Sandeep Nailwal Takes Control of Polygon Foundation as First CEO
Sandeep Nailwal has taken the helm as the first CEO of the Polygon Foundation, shifting the organization away from its previous decentralized governance structure. Nailwal, a co-founder of Polygon, plans to refocus the foundation, which supervises Polygon Labs and other components of the ecosystem, amid fierce competition. He emphasized a return to rapid execution and agility in the project. Currently, the Polygon native POL token has fallen over 80% from its peak, prompting immediate reforms such as the introduction of AggLayer, an interoperability protocol expected by year-end. Additionally, the zkEVM chain will be phased out by 2026 due to performance issues, while upgrades are aimed at enabling the Blockchain to handle over 100,000 transactions per second. The upcoming Bhilai upgrade in July seeks to lower gas fees and enhance payment finality, reinforcing Polygon's strategy in the marketplace, which includes partnerships with major players like JPMorgan and Stripe. This strategic overhaul follows the recent departures of several key Polygon founders.
