Riot, CleanSpark Post Bitcoin Output Jump in August
Riot Platforms and CleanSpark reported significant increases in Bitcoin output for August, highlighting enhanced operational efficiency and expanded hash rates year-over-year. Riot produced 477 BTC, a 48% increase from August 2024, and generated net proceeds of $51.8 billion from selling 450 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 19,309 BTC, up 92.7% over the year. CleanSpark mined 657 BTC, representing a 37.5% increase year-over-year, and sold 533.5 BTC for $60.7 million, with its holdings now at 12,827 BTC, a 69.7% rise. These gains occurred despite a 44.9% increase in Bitcoin mining difficulty, which rose to 129.7 trillion. Riot’s hash rate surged to 31.4 EH/s, a 116.6% jump, while CleanSpark reached 43.3 EH/s, marking a 103.3% increase. Some miners are diversifying their operations beyond Bitcoin mining to explore additional revenues from sectors like high-performance computing.
