Police Nab Alleged Mastermind Behind French Crypto Kidnappings
A 24-year-old French-Moroccan national, Badiss Mohamed Amide Bajjou, was arrested in Morocco for allegedly leading a series of crypto-related kidnappings in France. His arrest follows an Interpol Red Notice and comes after a series of high-profile incidents, including the abduction of Ledger co-founder David Balland. French Minister Gérald Darmanin praised Morocco's cooperation in combating organized crime. Bajjou's apprehension adds to at least 12 earlier arrests made by French police linked to kidnapping plots, including an incident involving the daughter of Paymium's co-founder, Pierre Noizat. Wrench attacks targeting crypto holders have increased globally. The rise in these crimes has prompted investigations revealing a network of younger individuals involved in organizing such kidnappings, often recruiting minors for these illegal activities. Reports suggest Bajjou may not be the sole orchestrator, with another national possibly overseeing operations through crypto transfer analysis.
