Planck launches layer-0 blockchain for artificial intelligence
Planck has introduced a layer-0 blockchain designed to support decentralized AI networks, leveraging a $230 million network of global processing units. This blockchain serves as foundational infrastructure for AI applications, particularly those built around decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs). The initiative aims to decentralize high-performance AI compute, which is currently dominated by centralized tech giants like OpenAI and Google. Planck plans to generate revenue from transaction fees and GPU rental, promising cost savings of up to 90% compared to traditional cloud services. The company has reported $1.5 million in revenue since February from GPU rentals, emphasizing a growing demand for GPU-as-a-service. This move corresponds with the expansion of the decentralized AI landscape, as Planck competes with projects like Bittensor and Fetch.ai, which focus on decentralized machine learning and AI agent creation. By decentralizing the GPU network, Planck aims to significantly reduce expenses for AI computing needs.
