Peaq, in collaboration with DualMint and KanayaAI, has announced the launch of the world’s first tokenized robo-farm in Hong Kong. This innovative vertical farm design uses automated systems to cultivate crops indoors, significantly reducing land and water needs compared to traditional farming. The project links farm cash flows to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), allowing NFT holders to earn returns based on food sales. The farm is set to produce fresh vegetables, such as lettuce and kale, on a subscription basis. Each facility aims for about 12 crop cycles annually, compared to the 3-4 cycles typical of conventional farms. The tokenization aspect of the project allows it to directly connect revenues to consumer demand, addressing scalability and food production challenges. Dorlöchter from Peaq highlighted that this venture represents a significant shift towards integrating blockchain and automated technologies into sustainable food production. The robo-farm is expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2025.
