OpenSea has acquired Rally, a mobile-focused Web3 platform, to develop a mobile-first experience for NFT and token trading. This acquisition signifies OpenSea's intent to unify trading of digital assets on mobile devices, as the company aims to create an ‘onchain everything app’ that goes beyond NFTs into decentralized finance (DeFi) and other Web3 services. Rally co-founders Chris Maddern and Christine Hall will join OpenSea's leadership, with Maddern taking on the role of chief technology officer. He emphasized the necessity of a mobile platform in today’s tech landscape, where users spend most of their time. Additionally, OpenSea is looking into integrating artificial intelligence to enhance user safety and understanding within the crypto space. This mobile initiative follows the rollout of OpenSea's revamped OS2 platform, which aims to support fungible tokens and ensure discoverability of everything onchain.
