One of the Biggest Bitcoin Whales in History Just Cashed Out $9 Billion
Institutional crypto firm Galaxy announced a historic transaction in which it sold over 80,000 Bitcoin, valued at more than $9.3 billion, for a significant Satoshi-era investor. This sale is noted as one of the largest Bitcoin transactions ever, representing a major exit from the digital asset market. The mysterious whale, who had held the coins for 14 years, moved them to Galaxy's addresses, prompting analysts to investigate. The movements were traced back to early wallet service MyBitcoin.com, which shut down in 2011 due to a hack. Despite the substantial sale, Bitcoin's price declined by only 1% in a 24-hour period, remaining around $117,000, just below its all-time high of $122,838.
