One of the Biggest Bitcoin Whales in History Just Cashed Out $9 Billion
Galaxy, an institutional crypto firm, reported a massive sale of over 80,000 Bitcoin worth more than $9 billion on behalf of a Satoshi-era investor, marking one of the largest transactions in cryptocurrency history. The sale was executed after the unidentified whale moved the coins, which had been dormant for 14 years. Blockchain analysts confirmed that the same coins sold through Galaxy were initially associated with a wallet from an early Bitcoin service that had shut down following a hack. Despite this significant cash-out, Bitcoin's price dipped only slightly, remaining stable around $117,000, which is close to its all-time high. Bitcoin whales—investors holding large quantities of Bitcoin—are showing strong demand for the cryptocurrency, indicating a robust interest in the market, even amidst substantial sales. Experts have noted that the movements of such large holders often stimulate market speculation about future sell-offs.
