One of the Biggest Bitcoin Whales in History Just Cashed Out $9 Billion
Institutional crypto firm Galaxy reported a monumental sale involving over 80,000 Bitcoin, worth more than $9 billion, on behalf of a Satoshi-era investor. This transaction is noted as one of the largest in crypto history. The mysterious whale, who had not moved the coins for 14 years, initiated the transfer earlier this month. Blockchain analyst JA_Maartun confirmed the transaction linked to the galaxy sale, suggesting that these coins originated from an early Bitcoin wallet service, MyBitcoin.com, which was compromised in 2011. Despite the significant sale, Bitcoin's market price remained stable, dipping only 1%. Currently, Bitcoin trades at approximately $117,274, slightly below its all-time high. Experts assert that activity from whales can generate selling pressure, raising investor speculation about further cashing in. Meanwhile, demand from Bitcoin whales is reportedly stronger than ever, with many continuing to accumulate BTC.
