Ondo Finance has introduced a new platform, Ondo Global Markets, which offers tokenized US stocks and ETFs on Ethereum, available to qualified investors outside the US. With an initial offering of over 100 equities and funds, the platform aims to expand to more than 1,000 assets by year-end. Investors from regions including Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and Latin America can now access major companies like Apple and Tesla, along with ETFs from Fidelity and BlackRock. The integration with Trust Wallet allows users to hold and swap tokenized stocks without brokerage accounts. Trading is confined to US market hours, though on-chain peer-to-peer transfers are available anytime. The tokens do not confer ownership of the underlying assets and residents of the US, UK, and EEA are excluded. This initiative supports liquidity and interoperability, utilizing Chainlink oracles for pricing data and LayerZero for cross-chain transfers. Notably, select tokenized assets may serve as collateral in Morpho lending vaults. Ondo's launch is part of a broader trend in the industry, with similar ventures seen from Kraken and Coinbase.
