Despite this high adoption, trust in AI's output remains low, with only 24% of developers expressing confidence in the results produced by these tools. The survey, which included nearly 5,000 technology professionals, revealed that while developers convene AI for tasks such as code generation and security reviews for a median of two hours daily, 30% regard the information generated with skepticism. The report illustrates an industry grappling with the balance of efficiency versus reliability, as over 80% of developers acknowledged improvements in their workflow when using AI, yet many regarded its output akin to junk mail. Additionally, the report highlights a paradox: most developers rely heavily on AI while distrusting its accuracy. The incorporation of AI coding assistants also raised concerns regarding security, as vulnerabilities were identified that could enable threats from malicious actors using these tools. Considering these insights, Google's DORA AI Capabilities Model aims to educate organizations on safely leveraging AI.
