Metaplanet, a Japanese firm, has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings by purchasing 1,111 BTC at an average price of approximately $106,408 each on June 23, 2025. This acquisition brings the firm’s total Bitcoin holdings to 11,111 BTC, making it the eighth largest corporate holder of Bitcoin globally. Metaplanet aims to reach a bold target of acquiring 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026, which means they still need about 89,000 more coins over the next 18 months. Despite achieving 11% of this goal, Metaplanet’s stock fell by 8.2% following the announcement due to broader market concerns. The company reported a quarterly BTC Yield of 107.9%, demonstrating aggressive accumulation relative to share dilution. Metaplanet plans to continue its Bitcoin purchasing strategy, having previously established a 470% portfolio expansion goal earlier in the year. The company also revealed recent capital fundraising efforts, including the issuance of $21 million in bonds to support its Bitcoin-buying initiatives.
