Metaplanet, Japan's largest publicly traded Bitcoin treasury firm, has increased its Bitcoin holdings by acquiring an additional 1,234 BTC for approximately $132 million. This purchase, made at around $108,129 per token, brings the firm's total Bitcoin holdings to 12,345 BTC, valued at over $1.3 billion. Metaplanet aims to significantly expand its cryptocurrency portfolio to reach 100,000 BTC by 2026. This move marks the company's third-largest Bitcoin buy, occurring amid a rise in cryptocurrency treasuries among publicly traded firms, which now hold a combined $90 billion worth of Bitcoin. Currently, Metaplanet holds the position of the largest non-American company in Bitcoin accumulation, ranking seventh among publicly traded firms in total Bitcoin holdings, trailing behind several notable cryptocurrency investment firms.
