Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has strengthened its position as the largest non-US Bitcoin treasury by purchasing an additional 790 Bitcoin, bringing its total holdings to 17,132 BTC, valued at over $2 billion. The company acquired the new Bitcoin at an average price of approximately $118,145 per coin, totaling around $92 million, and has invested $1.7 billion overall at an average cost basis of about $99,640 per coin. This purchase positions Metaplanet as the seventh-largest Bitcoin treasury globally, following the Trump Media & Technology Group and ahead of Galaxy Digital Holdings. Metaplanet's stock has seen remarkable growth, surging 517% over the past year, reaching a trading price of $8.36, up 5% on the day of the report. CEO Simon Gerovich noted that the firm is building a model compliant with Japan's regulations and aims to use its Bitcoin reserves to acquire cash-generating businesses.
