Major Validators Join Testnet to Tackle Ethereum’s Overlooked Bottleneck
Major Ethereum validators have commenced testing OptimumP2P, a high-performance memory layer aimed at resolving the network's limitations. Participating validators, controlling over 14% of Ethereum's stake, are testing the system under high-traffic conditions, with early results indicating up to 10 times lower latency compared to the existing Gossipsub protocol. The innovative application facilitates data sharing using Random Linear Network Coding, which enhances efficiency by allowing unique data packets to be combined into encoded formats. This method ensures vital information is rapidly disseminated across nodes without redundancy, thus solving existing propagation issues and minimizing message loss. The deployment of OptimumP2P is set for Ethereum's Hoodi testnet this summer, with potential for application in other blockchains following its initial success. The initiative aligns with co-founder Vitalik Buterin's vision to increase Ethereum's blockchain capabilities significantly within the next year, addressing the existing network congestion and improving performance overall.
