London Stock Exchange lists new Bitcoin staking ETP
DeFi Technologies' subsidiary Valour has launched a Bitcoin staking exchange-traded product (ETP) on the London Stock Exchange, allowing investors to earn crypto yield as the UK eases digital asset restrictions. The Bitcoin staking ETP offers a 1.4% annual yield, backed by Bitcoin secured in cold storage using multiparty computation (MCP) technology. Currently, it is available to institutions and professional investors. The yield generation method remains unspecified, although Valour operates another Bitcoin ETP in France utilizing coin delegation on the Core Chain for yield generation. While the Bitcoin ETP marks a notable development, Bitcoin itself does not inherently generate staking yield, requiring holders to explore alternatives such as centralized lending platforms or wrapping BTC into tokens like Wrapped Bitcoin. Following the announcement, shares of DeFi Technologies saw a 5% increase on Nasdaq, reflecting positive market sentiment around this development.
