Linea: Everything You Need to Know About the Ethereum Layer-2 Network Airdrop and Token
The LINEA token is now live following its airdrop process that commenced on September 10, 2025. Developed by Consensys, this token serves as the native asset for the Linea Ethereum layer-2 network but does not function as a gas token since ETH is used for transaction fees. LINEA will be issued in a total supply of 72 billion tokens, and 90 days are provided for eligible users to claim their tokens from the 9.3 billion allocated to early users and ecosystem participants. Distribution is structured into three main categories: 10% for early adopters, 75% for active participants in the Linea ecosystem, and 15% reserved for the Consensys treasury. Early adopters who have participated in specific campaigns may claim LINEA if they met defined criteria. The vast majority of the tokens aim to incentivize active engagement within the Ethereum ecosystem, with plans for an ecosystem fund to support related projects. Linea’s goal is to enhance attraction and yield for those investing in Ethereum capital. The token generation event was a significant milestone aimed at boosting liquidity and use cases within the Linea network, ensuring its growth alongside Ethereum’s ecosystem.
