LIBRA token maker fights class suit, citing lack of jurisdiction
The creator of the LIBRA token, Hayden Davis, is seeking to dismiss a class-action lawsuit filed against him in New York, arguing that the court lacks jurisdiction. Davis contends that the LIBRA token was offered on a global scale and did not specifically target New York or its residents. He states in his filing that he is not a resident of New York, does not conduct business there, and was not present in the state when the alleged misconduct occurred. The lawsuit, which claims Davis misled investors regarding the token’s intentions, was initiated by a group led by Omar Hurlock. They argue that the token was promoted under false pretenses aimed at benefiting Argentina’s economy. However, Davis maintains that his efforts to promote LIBRA were not directed towards New York, which he believes is necessary for the New York courts to legally proceed with the case. The class group has previously succeeded in freezing assets tied to the LIBRA project, while Davis continues to defend himself against these allegations, seeking dismissal without prejudice to allow for potential re-filing in another jurisdiction.
