Latin American devs favor Ethereum and Polygon over new chains
A report by Sherlock Communications indicates that developers in Latin America are increasingly focusing on established blockchain ecosystems like Ethereum and Polygon. The study, which gathered insights from 85 developers in Bolivia, Mexico, Brazil, and Peru, emphasizes the community's preference for transparency, coordination, and compliance. It found that 75% of blockchain wallet transactions in the region during a recent period were on Ethereum, with Polygon comprising about 11%, indicating growing adoption. Luiz Eduardo Abreu Hadad, a blockchain consultant, remarked on the region's technical maturity and serious engagement in real-world problem solving. While local initiatives such as Núclea Chain in Brazil suggest a capacity for creating new platforms, the prevailing trend is towards working within proven ecosystems. Future development is expected to focus on decentralized applications (DApps), real-world asset tokenization, and enhancing supply chain traceability, emphasizing stability and user-friendly tools.
