Kraken Moves Its HQ To Wyoming, Citing The Regulatory Environment
Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has relocated its global headquarters to Cheyenne, Wyoming, marking its first establishment of a physical office since closing its San Francisco location in 2022 due to safety concerns for employees. In a blog post, Kraken emphasized that the move was influenced by Wyoming's favorable regulatory environment for digital asset companies, highlighting support from local lawmakers such as Senator Cynthia Lummis. Lummis stated that Wyoming has been a leader in digital asset policy for nearly a decade, helping to create a thriving space for crypto businesses. Since exiting San Francisco, Kraken has operated without a physical headquarters, with most employees working remotely. The company aims to navigate a more stable and supportive regulatory landscape as it seeks to establish itself in what is evolving into America’s premier crypto hub. Earlier circumstances leading to the headquarters change included reports of harassment experienced by employees commuting to the San Francisco office, prompting a reevaluation of operational safety and stability.
