Kraken has launched Backed's xStocks to eligible European investors, enabling them to trade tokenized certificates that track popular US equities. This initiative follows Kraken's integration with Backed on the Solana blockchain and is part of a broader strategy to enhance access to US markets. The offering allows users to trade without traditional brokers and move their assets freely across compatible platforms. Mark Greenberg, Kraken’s global head of consumer, emphasized that xStocks aims to remove barriers that have historically limited access to US markets. The launch echoes a growing trend in Europe, highlighted by other platforms like Gemini and Robinhood, as well as Nasdaq’s plans to enter the tokenized stocks space. Greenberg noted the importance of permissionless and interoperable platforms like xStocks, envisaging a future where tokenized equities are accessible and transparent for all users.
