Kerberus, a cryptocurrency security platform, has acquired Pocket Universe, a popular fraud prevention tool, with plans to develop a dedicated antivirus for the crypto space. This acquisition, valued in the seven-figure range, aims to combat the increase in malware attacks affecting users. Kerberus will integrate Pocket Universe into its Sentinel3 security extension, extend protection across various blockchain networks, and pursue the first crypto antivirus. Co-founders of Pocket Universe, Justin Phu and Nishan Samarasinghe, will transition to new projects while continuing to support Kerberus. Ran Neuner, a notable figure in crypto, has joined as a strategic adviser to enhance outreach and trust in the crypto ecosystem. Kerberus, established in 2023, aims to address ongoing security challenges by introducing an antivirus solution tailored for cryptocurrency. Co-founder Alex Katz highlighted the lack of such products in the market, asserting the necessity for a software that provides protection against malware. Estimates suggest it will take several months to develop a functional product. As the need for trust and safety in crypto adoption grows, this development could play a crucial role in enhancing user safety in digital transactions.
