Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has outlined plans for a national cryptocurrency reserve and the establishment of a digital asset law to be developed before 2026. In his annual address, Tokayev emphasized the need for a comprehensive digital asset ecosystem to improve economic returns. He proposed creating a State Fund of Digital Assets aimed at accumulating a strategic crypto reserve comprised of promising digital assets. Additionally, Tokayev reiterated plans for 'CryptoCity' in Alatau to become a fully digitalized city, utilizing cryptocurrency for daily transactions. This initiative reflects Kazakhstan's efforts to position itself as a significant player in the global crypto market, continuing its legacy as a major hub for Bitcoin mining, despite some challenges regarding illegal mining operations and energy consumption.
