JPMorgan to allow crypto purchases with Coinbase
JPMorgan Chase has partnered with Coinbase to introduce new crypto integrations for its customers. Beginning this fall, Chase credit card holders will be able to buy crypto using their Chase cards on Coinbase. Additionally, customers will have the option to redeem their Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for USDC, marking the first major rewards program to offer crypto rewards. By 2026, Chase card users will be able to link their accounts directly with Coinbase for more streamlined crypto purchases. This integration reflects JPMorgan's growing interest in digital assets, as CEO Jamie Dimon mentioned that the bank is moving towards incorporating deposit coins and stablecoins into its offerings. Reports indicate that JPMorgan is also exploring the possibility of offering crypto-backed loans by 2026, although specific details remain subject to change. Despite these advancements, experts note that decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms still hold competitive advantages over traditional financial entities in terms of loan collateral options and fees.
