Japanese company says its CEO will use his full salary to buy Bitcoin
Takashi Tashiro, the newly appointed CEO of Tokyo-based Remixpoint, will receive his entire salary in Bitcoin to align his interests with shareholders. Remixpoint announced that it would calculate his salary in Japanese yen, purchase the equivalent amount in Bitcoin, and transfer it to a designated wallet. This move is part of the company's strategy to position BTC at the core of its operations. Prior to Tashiro's appointment, Remixpoint had already been acquiring Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as part of its digital asset treasury strategy, currently holding over 1,051 BTC and a total crypto asset value exceeding $116 million. Tashiro is also associated with BITPoint, a Japanese cryptocurrency exchange. The trend of executives accepting crypto salaries is growing, with past examples including UK-based Argo Blockchain's CEO receiving BTC and New York City's former mayor Eric Adams choosing Bitcoin for his paychecks since 2021. These decisions are aimed at promoting cryptocurrency adoption or potentially impacting its market value.
