Huione marketplace death sprouts 30 more in its place
The shutdown of the major crypto darknet marketplace Huione Guarantee has led users to migrate to at least 30 new alternatives, with one marketplace, Tudou Guarantee, seeing its user base double since May. This shift followed the closure of Huione Guarantee, which was impacted by bans on associated Telegram accounts. Tudou Guarantee has quickly captured much of Huione's former transaction volume, with a significant number of merchants also relocating to the new platform, offering services including stolen data and money laundering. Despite the closure causing disruptions, the overall darknet ecosystem appears to be thriving as competitors quickly filled the void left by Huione Guarantee. Although Huione Guarantee continued to operate in some capacity post-shutdown, reports indicate that transaction volumes have dropped to negligible levels, suggesting it is effectively out of the market. Analysts stress that ongoing efforts are needed to address the growing number of alternative marketplaces thriving in the absence of Huione Guarantee.
