Holders of Trump's Crypto Token Targeted by Hackers in Phishing Exploit
World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token holders are facing exploitation as hackers leverage a phishing method linked to Ethereum’s recent Pectra upgrade. Following WLFI's trading launch, attacks have drained tokens through a malicious delegate contract that reroutes funds to hacker-controlled wallets. Users reported challenges in recovering their tokens, with instances of scams and phishing links exacerbating the situation. The exploit stems from EIP-7702, a feature that was supposed to enhance user experience but has been misused to compromise wallets. Amid reported difficulties, investors scrambled to transfer their remaining tokens, with one indicating they could only rescue 20% of their assets. The WLFI token, associated with former President Donald Trump, debuted trading at 33.13 cents but has since fallen to 24.27 cents, highlighting the rapid downturn alongside these security breaches.
