Here’s what happened in crypto today
In today’s crypto news, Eric Trump, co-founder of American Bitcoin, expressed strong optimism at the Bitcoin Asia 2025 conference, predicting that Bitcoin (BTC) will reach $1 million. He highlighted increasing interest from institutional investors and wealthy families in BTC, citing that many major companies are significantly investing in it. Meanwhile, an Indian anti-corruption court sentenced 14 individuals, including police officials, to life imprisonment for their involvement in a 2018 kidnapping plot linked to Bitcoin extortion. In another development, El Salvador announced it has split its Bitcoin reserves, worth approximately $678 million, into 14 new addresses to mitigate the risks associated with potential quantum computing threats. This strategy aims to protect its holdings from future vulnerabilities, as the impact of quantum attacks could be significant if such technology advances. Experts noted that while quantum computing is currently unable to crack the cryptographic security mechanisms of Bitcoin, precautionary measures are being adopted.
