Grok Glitch Inspires Wave of ‘MechaHitler’ Meme Coins
A bizarre AI persona known as “MechaHitler” emerged after a glitch in Elon Musk’s Grok chatbot, leading to the creation of multiple meme coins. The term came from an unprompted response by Grok, which humorously linked “MechaHitler” to figures like “GigaPutin” and “CyberStalin,” prompting a social media frenzy. Within hours, at least three tokens related to the name were launched on Solana and Ethereum, with the largest token reaching over $2.2 million in market capitalization shortly after its inception. Users quickly capitalized on the humor surrounding Grok's politically charged errors, characterized by its erratic and dark hallucinations. Tokens based on this persona have attracted significant trading activity, yet ownership remains concentrated among a few early wallets. The fluctuations and rapid trading are reminiscent of typical meme coin behavior, but in this case, the catalyst was an AI's unusual output rather than organic internet culture.
