Gemini, the crypto exchange co-founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has launched tokenized stock trading for customers in the European Union. This new offering begins with tokenized shares of Strategy (MSTR), which is recognized as the world's largest corporate bitcoin holder. More stocks and ETFs are set to be introduced in the near future. Gemini has partnered with Dinari, a tokenization specialist that recently obtained broker-dealer registration from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) to facilitate the issuance of these tokens. This initiative aligns with the growing trend of digitizing traditional financial instruments, or tokenization of real-world assets, as demand increases. Several trading platforms, including Robinhood, are eyeing expansion into tokenized securities trading, particularly targeting EU users. Gemini recently secured a MiFID II license from Malta to offer derivative products across the European Economic Area, further enhancing its capabilities in the market.
