FTX to Repay $1.6B to Creditors Starting on September 30
FTX is set to repay $1.6 billion to creditors on September 30, following prior distributions that returned over $6 billion to victims of the exchange's collapse in November 2022. This upcoming payment will be the third major payout in FTX's bankruptcy process, overseen by the FTX Recovery Trust. Creditors who have verified their claims will receive funds through service providers like BitGo, Kraken, or Payoneer, expected to arrive within three business days. U.S. customer claims will receive 40%, resulting in a total recovery of 95%, while 'Dotcom' customers will get an additional 6%, totaling 78% in cumulative distributions. General unsecured and digital asset loan claims will see a 24% payout, raising recoveries to 85%. Convenience claims will be paid at 120%, exceeding the original amounts owed. FTX's founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, is currently serving a 25-year sentence after being convicted of fraud and conspiracy.
