Figma IPO Filing Reveals $70M Bitcoin ETF Holdings
Figma, the design software company, has filed to go public in the US, disclosing it holds nearly $70 million in Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and has set aside $30 million in stablecoins to purchase Bitcoin. The filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) indicated Figma invested $55 million into the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF on March 3, 2024, with an unrealized profit of 26% as of March 31. Moreover, Figma plans to re-invest its $30 million in USDC stablecoins into Bitcoin later. This move reflects a growing trend among corporations to hold Bitcoin as part of their treasury. Previously, Adobe attempted to acquire Figma for $20 billion, but regulatory concerns led to the deal's cancellation, requiring Adobe to pay Figma a $1 billion termination fee. Companies are increasingly adding crypto assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, to their balance sheets, indicating a wider institutional adoption in the financial ecosystem.
