Users with a Barça ID can create a wallet that allows the generation of an FC Barcelona avatar NFT, which could be customized with official merchandise, and also enables the collection of digital items in anticipation of a new mobile racing game launching soon. The wallet operates on the Root blockchain, compatible with XRP, allowing users to buy or sell digital items using cryptocurrencies like ROOT or XRP. Over 11 million Barça IDs were created prior to the launch, demonstrating substantial anticipation from fans. Futureverse CEO Aaron McDonald highlighted that the Pass will not just host avatars but will enable a variety of on-chain experiences and applications. Barcelona previously endeavored in the crypto space with a fan token on Chiliz, which peaked at a market cap of $125 million in 2021 but has since decreased significantly.
