Although the coin peaked at $0.015 before collapsing significantly in value, the funds have provided some relief to Balaji's family, who are facing mounting legal expenses and difficulties in finding representation willing to take the case. Their legal efforts involve a lawsuit against the City of San Francisco and its police department, alleging that critical evidence was not properly investigated. Balaji had been a vocal critic of OpenAI's practices, which many believe intensified scrutiny surrounding his death and its classification.
