Exclusive: Remix raises $5M in seed funding to become ‘TikTok for games’
Remix, formerly known as Farcade, has secured $5 million in seed funding led by Archetype, raising its total funding to $6.75 million. Notable investors include Variant, Coinbase Ventures, and Zynga cofounder Justin Waldron. Remix functions as a gaming tool and a platform for players, attracting over 570,000 users and 17 million game plays across 800 live games. The founders aimed to create a Mario Party-style experience, leading to the realization that AI could autonomously generate games. Remix is designed to be a social network for games, allowing users to instantly play new games as they appear in their feed. Game creators can modify existing games or create new ones, turning mobile game development into a streamlined and cost-effective process. Monetization plans include taking a share from ads and in-app purchases, alongside features to boost game visibility. With an onchain element allowing users to connect their digital identities, Remix is anticipated to benefit from the growth of user-created games and social gaming experiences.
