Ethereum’s largest testnet, Holešky, will be shut down in the coming weeks after serving for two years to test major network upgrades. The Ethereum Foundation announced that Holešky will cease operations two weeks after the completion of the Fusaka upgrade, which is expected to take place in the second half of September 2025. Launched in September 2023, Holešky was instrumental in testing staking infrastructure and validator operations. However, it faced technical issues, including inactivity leaks, which prompted the launch of a new testnet, Hoodi, in March 2025. The transition aims to migrate Holešky’s staking operators and infrastructure to Hoodi, which will support upcoming protocol upgrades such as Fusaka. The Fusaka update aims to enhance rollup data access and improve network scalability. Looking ahead, the Glamsterdam upgrade is scheduled for 2026, proposing to halve block times to six seconds. Recent developments within Ethereum have also influenced market trends, with several decentralized finance projects accumulating Ether as treasury assets.
