Ethereum core developers are targeting November for the next major hard fork, Fusaka, which aims to enhance the network's efficiency and scalability. The first public testnet for Fusaka is set to launch in late September, following a developmental network release. This upgrade comes six months after the previous major update, Pectra, which improved account abstraction and optimized layer-2 networks. The Fusaka hard fork will include 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals, focusing on network resilience against attacks and scalability enhancements. Ethereum validators have expressed support for raising the gas limit to 45 million to lower transaction costs. Concerns about the tight timeline were raised in the context of the upcoming Devconnect event scheduled for November 17-22 in Buenos Aires. Following Fusaka, the Glamsterdam upgrade is scheduled for 2026, which may include further enhancements like reduced block time, improving user experience.
