Ethereum Foundation to sell 10K ETH ’to fund R&D, grants, and donations’
The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has announced a sale of approximately $43 million in Ether to support research and development, grants, and donations related to the Ethereum ecosystem. In a post on the social platform X, the foundation indicated it plans to convert 10,000 ETH through centralized exchanges over several weeks, emphasizing that the transactions will occur in smaller orders rather than as a single large sale. This decision follows the implementation of its treasury policy in June, which involves regularly assessing the deviation of the treasury’s fiat-denominated assets in relation to Ether. Notably, the foundation previously conducted a significant sale of 100,000 ETH in December 2020, which reportedly impacted Ether's market price for months. The current sale is part of the foundation's broader strategy to fund its ongoing activities and support the growth of the Ethereum network.
