Ethereum developers have announced that the mainnet activation for the Fusaka upgrade is scheduled for December 3, 2025. This decision was made after a test on Fusaka Devnet-5 highlighted issues that cut the testing period short. Developers have agreed to increase blob capacity in phases to support rollups and reduce transaction fees. Initially, the capacity will rise to 10/15 blobs per block, followed by an increase to 14/21 blobs. A new test network, Devnet-6, will be launched to validate these figures before they go live. The upgrade aims to enhance the Ethereum ecosystem's ability to handle more transactions while keeping costs low as usage grows. Additionally, the Fusaka upgrade builds on the recently implemented Pectra upgrade, which aimed to simplify network usage and increase data capacity.
