Ethereum Developers Set Fusaka Upgrade for December, Ahead of Blob Capacity Boosts
Ethereum developers are set to implement the Fusaka upgrade on December 3, 2025, contingent upon successful testing on three public test networks in October. This upgrade is part of Ethereum's ongoing scaling strategy, following the introduction of Dencun blobs in March and the Pectra upgrade in May. Following Fusaka's activation, two subsequent Blob Parameter Only (BPO) forks are planned, which will incrementally increase blob limits from 6/9 to 10/15 and then to 14/21, enhancing the efficiency of storing rollup transaction data for layer-2 networks without necessitating new client software. The phased approach aims to safely expand capacity based on performance observed during Fusaka's testing. Additionally, Ethereum researcher Christine Kim indicated that more BPO upgrades are expected in the future, reinforcing the commitment to network scalability and efficiency following recent upgrades.
