Austin Federa, former Head of Strategy at the Solana Foundation, discussed DoubleZero, a blockchain layer announced in December 2024 that aims to be faster than the internet. As of now, approximately 12.57% of SOL staked operates on the DoubleZero testnet, which is designed to enhance the communication and scalability of blockchains. The network will launch its mainnet in September and expects to have over 50 fiber links that will greatly increase data transmission speeds.
